Junior Day of Discovery

These free to attend, annual open community events are a celebration of encouraging young minds to interact, explore and enjoy a festival style event under a single theme hosted at Cranford School. This autumn we will be hosting our ninth year of Junior Discovery Days. Visiting parents and families from Pre-School to Year 6 are welcome to join in the sights, sounds and activities across the school grounds on the day. Local reputation has spread over the years and it is an event to be marked in the calendar.

GENERAL

Following guidelines, this is predominantly an outdoor event and we ask that visitors dress accordingly. 

OPENING/CLOSING TIMES

When is the event? 

The event takes place Saturday, 8 November from 9am – 12pm noon

What time do the gates open? 

Gates will open at 9am.

TICKETS:

Is this event free? 

Yes, this is a free event, although we do kindly ask that visitors make a voluntary donation to our chosen charity.

Where can I order tickets from? 

Tickets are limited and available to order via Eventbrite. Tickets are allocated as one ticket per person, including children so please order enough tickets for each member of your party to have one.

Who can order tickets?

This is a public event open to all families and visitors are welcome to attend the event whether they have children attending Cranford or not. 

GETTING HERE: 

How do I get there/where do I park?

Cranford School is located in Moulsford, Oxfordshire. We will first be offering event car parking at 47 Reading Road on the A329 in OX10 9HW (500 metres north of the main school site) Please follow traffic signs and attendees. A free shuttle minibus service will be operating throughout the morning from this parking area. Alternatively, the event area is a short walk from the carpark.

THE SITE 

Is the site suitable for pushchairs/wheelchairs?

Yes, we openly welcome any families with pushchairs or wheelchairs to attend. If any disabled visitor needs advance information or assistance please contact us at [email protected] and we’ll do our best to help or advise. 

Are dogs allowed?

Dogs are welcome as long as they are kept on a lead and remain under control. Owners are also responsible for cleaning up after their dogs. Please be aware that during the event, there may be loud noises from vehicles.

Is there disabled parking?

Yes, there is designated disabled parking. Please contact us in advance at [email protected] if you require disabled parking and we will contact you with more details. Please display your blue badge at the gate.

Are there toilet facilities?

Toilets will be available to visitors throughout the site, with portaloos also available at the front of the school. Handicap facilities are also available. 

FOOD & DRINK

Is there somewhere to eat and drink?

Yes, free coffee, tea and snacks will be available for families on site as well as a selection of vendors with hot food and drink available for purchase.

GENERAL 

Where do charity proceeds go?

All funds collected will go to our chosen charity. We welcome your generosity.

Stretch & Challenge

Open to boys and girls in Years 5 and 6 from local primary schools, these completely free sessions are designed to stretch, challenge and inspire. 

During a morning of fun, imagination and energy, children will gain a taste of the exciting subjects on offer at Cranford’s Senior School, courtesy of our specialist teachers.

Places come at a first come, first serve basis and spaces are limited. Please book in advance to avoid disappointment, if spaces are full, there is a waiting list. 

Stretch & Challenge sessions run from 9am-12 noon on Saturday mornings beginning in the Autumn Term. 

Places are limited so if you would like to register your child for any of the dates below, please complete the booking form.

Stay & Play Toddler Mornings

Join us every Monday morning at 9:30am – 10:30am during term time

We have an exciting calendar of Stay & Play toddler sessions this term hosted by our experienced Early Years staff. These hour-long sessions allow for structured and free play to give your child a chance to explore and engage with different learning stations and develop social skills with similar-aged children.

Along with our trained Cranford Early Years staff, children will also enjoy themed activities hosted by our specialist teachers from Music, Sport, French, Science and Art.
