Dear Parents
The glorious run of summer weather has carried us through what has been a full, energetic and genuinely uplifting second week of the summer term. There has been a lovely feel around the school this week - a real sense of generosity of spirit, friendship and quiet confidence in one another.
Today we said goodbye, for now, to our Year 11 as they head into study leave. It was exactly the kind of send-off they deserved. The day had a bit of everything - laser tag, a celebratory assembly and, later, a relaxed gathering by the river with parents. The assembly, in particular, captured the spirit of the year group: warm, reflective and full of appreciation for the journey they have been on together. They leave us at an important moment, and there is a great deal of pride in what they have achieved already. We look forward to seeing them do themselves justice over the coming weeks and then welcoming so many of them back into the Sixth Form in due course.

Good luck as well to all those heading out this weekend for their Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award assessed expeditions. It promises to be a busy and, at times, demanding few days, but also hugely rewarding. Go well, look after one another, and enjoy the experience.
Earlier in the week, Year 2 set off on their trip to Oxford Castle - a wonderful opportunity to bring their learning to life. There is something particularly important about these early experiences: curiosity sparked, confidence built, and the sense that learning extends well beyond the classroom. It was also a pleasure to welcome so many Pre-Prep families into school for the coffee morning - these moments of connection matter.
On Tuesday, we enjoyed the first of our Junior School summer tea concerts. The standard of musicianship was exceptional, but what stood out just as much was the way pupils supported one another - whether performing solo or as part of an ensemble. It was a lovely expression of the values we talk about so often, lived out in a very natural way.
I hope you all enjoy the Bank Holiday weekend.
With very best wishes
James Raymond
