GCSE Results Day 2023
The academic potential of this year group has been clear throughout their time at Cranford School and this is reflected in their excellent set of GCSE results.
CONSISTENT EXCELLENCE FOR CRANFORD GCSE PUPILS IN 2023
It has been a wonderful morning, with much joy and festivity, as we enjoyed an exceptional GCSE results day celebrating the successes of our Year 11 students.
Cranford is thrilled to be celebrating pupils’ fantastic achievements across an outstanding set of GCSE results that highlight both the school’s continued academic excellence and its focus on providing an opportunity-rich education. With 57% of all grades at 9-7 (equivalent to A*-A) and nearly 40% at 9-8 across the cohort the school continues to demonstrate its reputation for academic excellence.
We are celebrating another year of wonderful results with 57% 9-7 and a +1.3 Value-Added Score. These are an excellent set of results and demonstrate incredible consistency, with our average value add tracking back to 2015 sitting at +1.3
As a leading co-educational independent day school (3-18), with a strong emphasis on excellence in Sport and Music, and pastoral care that really values each individual student, the school is especially proud of the exceptional Value-Added Score of +1.3. This indicates that pupils continue to achieve well over a grade above their nationally standardised baseline targets and reflect the school's burgeoning reputation for consistent academic excellence. This continues to build on the impressive average GCSE Value-Added Score of +1.3 over the last 7 years.
As in previous years, the school’s results proved incredibly strong across the curriculum with two thirds of all grades at 7 or higher in English and Maths. Similar success was celebrated across the school; where in the Creative Arts 75% of all grades were achieved at 9-7, with 90% grades 9-7 in Performing Arts, 66% in Humanities and 60% in Modern Foreign Languages. Particular highlights include 90% 9-7 in French, 87% in Design Technology and 78% 9-7 in Religious Studies.

“Year 11 have been an outstanding group of role-models for the whole school, who have led the Senior School with humour, warmth and kindness. They have set an admirable example for their peers in their hard-working and diligent approach to their studies throughout their time at school. We are very proud of each and every student and are looking forward to seeing them go onto achieve great things, as they progress forwards into Sixth Form.”
