Dear Parents

ISI Inspection Report – Double Excellent!

I hope you have now had the opportunity to read the letter sent yesterday with the outcome of the Inspection Report that took place at the end of the Autumn term. We have subsequently been in receipt of so many lovely emails from parents congratulating us on this achievement. I know I speak on behalf of all colleagues at the school when I say how privileged we are to be part of such a supportive school community and would like to take this opportunity to thank staff, pupils and parents, all of whom are pivotal to the success of Cranford.

Year 9 Parents’ Evening

On Wednesday evening, we were delighted to be joined by so many parents for our Year 9 Parents’ Evening. This Parents’ Evening marks an exciting time for Year 9 pupils, as the choices pupils submit for GCSE study becomes more of a reality. It was lovely to be able to talk to so many parents about the options, subject combinations and opportunities for GCSE study and beyond, as our fabulous Year 9 cohort embark on the next chapter of Cranford life. We are fortunate to have a very engaged, curious and talented group of pupils in Year 9 as our first co-ed cohort going through public examinations at GCSE. We look forward to supporting them through these important next steps.

Sport

The weather this week unfortunately had consequences for fixtures, with several being postponed. However, Year 6 Netballers braved the cold conditions to play Reddam House, with the A team just missing out a win in a fiercely competitive match, whilst the B team, in a display of great resilience won 3-0! Seniors also took to the court, with our U18 and U15 teams playing against OLA. Both teams showed excellent defending skills throughout the course of challenging games.

Our U13 Hockey teams visited Leighton Park School earlier in the week. The boys played with determination and energy in the chilly weather, playing exceptionally well in some highly competitive game. The U13A team went down fighting to a talented opposition, whilst the U13B team battled to a 2-2 draw.

Important Notices regarding Sports

Next week, we are planning a photoshoot with all our County and National sports players, in order to celebrate these pupils’ amazing achievements outside of school. Please can all County and National players in any sporting discipline, bring their team kit into school on Tuesday for a group photo at break time in the sports hall.

New Cricket Kit Supplier

G&P, our new cricket provider, will be in school on Monday 23 January during lunchtime 1:00pm-2:00pm to assist pupils in ordering the correct sizes in kit. Please remind your child/children. Form Tutors will also remind pupils next week.

Have a good weekend!

With best wishes,

Dr James Raymond
