Against a backdrop of late September sunshine, we have enjoyed a fantastic week across the school.

A real highlight came yesterday afternoon thanks to a truly spectacular PTA Fun Run on our new sports field. It was wonderful to see so many pupils, parents and members of staff from Nursery, Junior and Senior School join together for an afternoon of sporting fun, all fuelled by Chef Paul's BBQ! I am sure you will join me an extending a huge thank you to the PTA for organising this enjoyable and successful event. Many thanks also to the PTA for the invaluable support they have given to funding our new Senior Library. The reaction of pupils to our smart new Library space has been fantastic to see and it has been my pleasure to share this newly revamped section of the school with parents at events this week. A further high point of the week came as we welcomed many of our Senior pupils and their families to our Sixth Form Options evening to explore the next steps of their educational journey. It was very exciting to open the doors of the Sixth Form building to parents for the first time and to be able to discuss our A-level provision in detail. Many thanks to everyone who joined us at this event.

Another important evening at school comes next Tuesday 24 September as we host our Year 7 to 10 Welcome to Senior School evening for parents and pupils. I look forward to seeing many of you there.

It has also been a busy week of sporting success with Year 5 and 6 enjoying great wins against St Gabriel's, plus tight and enjoyable fixtures with Rupert House. Year 7 and 8 also celebrated wins against St Gabriel's and our Senior sides look forward to building on the success of our 2nd XI who beat St Edward's last week. In addition, the Rugby World Cup has now landed at Cranford House and all pupils will be receiving a team in next Monday morning’s sweepstake. Home nations matches that fall during breaks and lunchtime will also be shown at a variety of venues around school.

Finally, our best wishes go to our Year 8 and 9 Netballers who have headed off to Shropshire for this weekend’s GSA Netball Tournament and to our Year 4 who are competing in an ISA Hockey tournament at Cantley Park this afternoon.

With best wishes

Dr James Raymond
