Despite soaring temperatures this week, learning and fun have continued hand-in-hand at their usual pace.

Our final GCSE Examination was completed on Tuesday and our Year 11s are now enjoying a well-earned rest! They have been outstanding in their positive attitude and calm, focused approach to this challenging period. They will now be heading off on work experience placements, before returning to school for our end of year and Prize Giving celebrations.

The week also saw celebrations of both music and sport in the form of our Senior Music concert and Junior Sports Day. Both events gave us the opportunity to admire the breadth of talent in our school, with some superb renditions by our Senior musicians and an entire morning of exciting sporting endeavour from Nursery to Year 6 pupils. It was wonderful to see such strong competition, with new school records being set across a wide range of events, as well as the camaraderie within Forms and Houses. Well done to all our competitors! Thanks to our fabulous Year 9 Active Leaders who did a brilliant job in supporting the younger pupils throughout the day. The Active Leaders course is a fantastic initiative and its results were clear to see in the leadership skills on display yesterday.

Thanks also to those families who were able to join us in cheering the children on. If you haven't had yet had the opportunity, please do take a moment to review the pictures on our Flickr pages. You will also be able see photos from the rest of the week in school, including shots from our Year 3 boys’ and girls’ first school residential trip to Court Hill. Packing in a Scavenger Hunt, BBQ and a walk on the Ridgeway, they had great fun and they conducted themselves with real enthusiasm and maturity.

Next week brings more special events as we look forward to Vertical Teaching Day on Monday. This action-packed day brings pupils from Reception to Year 10 together to play games, solve puzzles and win points for their Houses and is one of those Cranford traditions that makes our school such a special place. I look forward to sharing more with you next week.

Best Wishes,

Dr J Raymond
