Dear Parents
It has been an action-packed week in school and we have a busy half-term ahead of the Easter break, with lots to look forward to including Open Classrooms, Parents’ Evenings, World Book Day, the Year 3 & 4 Show and much more besides. To ensure you are not missing any of these wonderful events, please can we remind all parents to keep an eye on the notices and letters relevant to your son or daughter’s year group in the section below in this newsletter.
Ski Trip
A huge thank you to everyone involved in supporting the Ski trip over the half term break. This is the biggest overseas residential trip that the school has have ever taken part in and in the words of some of our pupils, it was ‘epic’! For many pupils, it was their first time skiing, but they took to the slopes and were quick to improve, showing excellent progression over the week. Our more experienced skiers enjoyed the chance to tackle some of the more tricky runs. Fuelled by pizza, crepes and hot chocolate, all our pupils embraced the chance to have a go and did so with such brilliant energy and a great sense of fun, which made for a truly memorable week away. We cannot wait for the next one!
Year 8 Macbeth Workshop
On Monday, Year 8 had a fabulous start to the week, with a very special visit from Box Clever, who were able to quickly dispel any pre-conceived ideas that Shakespeare’s Macbeth is boring! In a vivid and highly charged production, Box Clever brought to life the devastation of one act and how this ultimately brought about Macbeth’s downfall. Pupils were then treated to a brilliant workshop. We look forward to welcoming Box Cleve back in a few weeks for Year 9 to enjoy the retelling of ‘Romeo and Juliet’!
Year 7, 8 and 9 Concert
On Tuesday evening musicians from Key Stage 3 gave a wonderful informal concert in the Willow Theatre. The standard of performance was extremely high, and we were treated to a variety of different repertoire from Bach to music from the Greatest Showman. This was a great opportunity for pupils to try out a performance in a supportive and friendly environment. Huge congratulations to all pupils that took part.

Finally, after a long absence due to Covid restrictions, we were over the moon to welcome back the much-loved tradition that is the Cranford Pancake Day race. It was our Senior pupils who took to the track first, in a wonderful show of camaraderie as pupils gathered around the Willow Tree to spur on their House Team-mates. Our Junior pupils followed quickly in their footsteps, mastering the art of moving and flipping the pancake with spectacular agility and skill. I am delighted to announce that St George were triumphant for Juniors, and St Christopher triumphed for Seniors.
With best wishes
