Yesterday, we had a wonderful update from our Music department and they also provided some brilliant tips to help pupils stay motivated and engaged during this period of lockdown. Today, it is the turn of the PE department. We all know how important exercise is, but perhaps even more so whilst the majority of our day seems to be lived virtually. As such, the PE team have some top tips to help pupils maintain their daily activity, routine and physical and mental health:

  1. Try and stretch once a day (it only needs to be 10 minutes)
  2. Switch off your phone's/tablets/screens at least an hour before bedtime, try not to look at them just before you go to sleep.
  3. Take part in the PE department’s daily sessions and go for a walk for at least 30 minutes a day.
  4. Perhaps listen to music to help motivate yourself whilst you are exercising or out for a walk or run.

It has been brilliant to see so many pupils getting involved in the daily Workout of the Day and Skills and Challenges, not to mention the highly celebrated Cranford House Cup Challenge! In a tightly fought contest, the winners in both the Senior and Junior School were St George's – Gryffindor! A huge well done to all our pupils for throwing themselves into this challenge with such enthusiasm and commitment.

Please do encourage your son or daughter to join the PE department for daily flexibility, core & aerobic workouts. The PE department are also loading up new skill challenges in football and cricket twice a week. With the arrival of some beautiful Spring weather, it is the perfect time to get outside and start practising!

Please see below for a structure of the week – parental involvement is more than welcome!
