Dear Parents

We started the week with the final A Level examination on Monday, bring the Year 11 and 13 exams to a close. We wish all our GCSE and A Level pupils a well-deserved rest over the summer and look forward to seeing them to celebrate their successes on their respective Results Days. Year 11 then enjoyed their final celebration of the term at their Prom.

Year 5 and 6 Show – Superstan!
Superstan was not just super…..it was phenomenally super! Our Year 5 and 6 children put on the most entertaining show at the Cornerstone on Wednesday and Thursday evening and it was joyful! I forgot the children on the stage were between the ages of 9 and 11 as I watched an abundance of talent perform with incredible presence and humour that had the audience in stitches. The slapstick one liners tore through each scene, there was barely time to breathe before another eruption of laughter. Each character embracing their traits with such expression, made for an entirely entertaining, delightful show. We were treated to a roof raising opening night performance that was greeted by a standing ovation and our thanks goes to the Year 5 and 6 team for producing such a wonderful show, but more importantly to our incredibly talented cast who had the audience in stitches and entertained throughout!

Move up and New Pupil Day

Always a highlight of the calendar, our Junior Pupils today spent time with their new Form Tutors for the next academic year. We have also welcomed an incredible number of new pupils in, as part of their New Pupils’ Day. A huge thanks to our PTA for their efforts in running an exceptionally busy second-hand uniform shop, fuelled by Chef Paul’s tea, coffee, and biscuits! Meanwhile, our youngest new pupils in Reception had a lovely picnic in the Reception garden with their parents, as part of their induction.

Year 9 Barcelona Trip
The Year 9 pupils arrived back at Cranford late last night after an exciting few day in Barcelona, taking in the sights and sounds of the city. The pupils visited Camp Nou the home of Barcelona FC, enjoyed time on the beach as well as visiting the incredible Sagrada Familia. By all accounts they had a wonderful time, even though they may have been feeling a bit sleepy in school today!

Sixth Form Induction
Earlier in the week, many of our current Year 11s and new external pupils joined us for our annual Sixth Form Induction Day. After a morning of induction talks and meeting subject teachers, the pupils put their problem-solving skills to the test during a Diamond Heist escape room challenge! It certainly looked pretty complex from what I saw, but I have it on good authority that we have several skilled code-breakers in next year’s Sixth Form. We look forward to welcoming them back to in September.

Year Six Celebrations
As well as taking starring roles in SuperStan this week, our Year Six pupils gathered on Tuesday to mark the end of their time in Junior School. With an assembly full of singing, memories and stories about their time in Juniors, they were then greeted by the entire Junior School who clapped and cheered them out of the Willow Theatre to a very special afternoon tea in the Orangery.

Sports update
After the success of our American Football Team in the Regional Championships, our team headed to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday to compete in the National Championships. The team did an outstanding job and came 7th in the tournament so a huge well done to them.

Our U13 cricket team travelled to Wormsley Estate on Wednesday and returned to school as County Champions, showing great resilience and determination in the last over to hold the win! Well done boys!

End of Term Music Concert
Thank you to all the parents who have so kindly donated to our fundraising initiative linked to the Gala Concert. If you have not already done so and would like to contribute, please click here. Please also see this letter about collection arrangements of pupils after the Gala Concert. We are encouraging parents to collect directly from the Hexagon at 3:15pm.

Have a lovely weekend!

Kind regards

Dr James Raymond
