After the excitement of last week’s snow, we started the new week in fine style as our Senior Cricket team headed to St Helen and St Katharine’s for an U15 tournament.

After a full day of keen competition, they emerged triumphant, having beaten their hosts, as well as two teams from Cokethorpe. Many congratulations to all our players – we now look forward to them heading off to the county finals. Further victories came from two of our Year 6 teams against The Abbey and from our Year 4C team who beat Our Lady’s, Abingdon. Well done to everyone who represented the school this week.

Thursday saw the welcome return of our annual inter-house quiz, held in celebration of the International Harry Potter Book night. The Senior Library was transformed by floating Hogwarts letters and candles as teams did fierce battle for their Houses. Congratulations to St Francis and St George who drew in first place, despite some unfeasibly tricky questions! The fun continued in the Junior Library where pupils enjoyed Hogwarts word searches, Harry Potter Trivial Pursuit and even a chance to design a sock for a House Elf!

This week has also brought the excitement of our Year 10 pupils applying for the position of Head of School. Reading their letters of application, I have been most encouraged by their sense of duty to school, their enthusiasm for the role and their self-awareness and confidence in describing their own strengths. I very much look forward to meeting them at interview and hearing their speeches in assembly next week.

With best wishes
