Dear Parents
The final week of the half term continued at a pace with two exciting residential visits, house competitions, historical explorations of the Great Fire of London, sports fixtures, exams and so much more besides!
Year 4 Residential
I was lucky earlier in the week to travel to Dorset with Year 4 for their annual New Barn Residential Visit. From, paddling in the sea to fossil hunting and ice-cream on the beach at Lulworth Cove the first day got off to a busy start. Year 4 enjoyed an action packed few days from Pottery classes showing off their creative flair to meeting the array of animals that live at New Barn and enjoying a spectacular living history afternoon in Anglo-Saxon England, the children had a wonderful few days! I was so impressed by their kindness and generosity of spirit and their sense of adventure as they tackled their longest residential visit to date. They also showed some pretty impressive dance moves at the obligatory end of residential disco- they have clearly been practising lots with their families! Please find the photos from the trip here.

Senior pupils enjoy the sun in Osmington Bay!
Just down the road in Osmington Bay around 200 pupils from Years 7-9 took on challenge of a 4 day PGL adventure! In a truly spectacular setting overlooking the bay our Key Stage 3 pupils challenged themselves and encouraged their friends as they took on Dragon Boat Racing, Leaps of Faith, climbing, abseiling, fencing and so much more besides. These opportunities to travel independently with their friends, to challenge themselves, work together as a team and simply have fun and build memories are such an important feature of school life. Over this half term every year group from Year 3 to Year 9 has headed out on a residential visit - we are incredibly proud of the way our pupils have thrown themselves into these opportunities and built memories together with their friends!
The school residential visit programme for the year isn't quite finished yet. Mrs Day and Mrs Wekesa are busy finalising details for the World Challenge expedition to Malaysia over the summer; we'll look forward to telling you more about this incredible adventure later in the year!
Regarding next half term please save the dates for Junior School Sports Day 18 June, Senior Sport Day 19 June and 01 July for an all-school summer concert at the Hexagon.
Finally, please enjoy our flickr album it provides a brilliant flavour of everything we have done this week.
Have a great half term!
Best wishes
Dr James Raymond
