We enjoyed a wonderful first week back at school, helped by both glorious sunshine and the advent of our annual Founder’s Day celebrations.

Thank you to everyone who joined staff and pupils at our service at Dorchester Abbey. The Abbey provides a very special setting to reflect together on our school values and ethos, as well as the importance we place on happiness and generosity of spirit here at Cranford House. During the service, we reflected on the founding principles of our school and on our belief that each and every one of our pupils can achieve anything they set their minds to.

I’m proud to say that teachers Mrs Lanyon and Mrs Cranton demonstrated this ambition and achievement amply by completing the London Marathon yesterday, raising thousands for some very worthwhile charities. Very well done to them both on a superb achievement.

Finally, I’d like to thank all the members of the PTA who worked tirelessly to ensure that this weekend’s Spring Ball was a spectacular success. We are most grateful for the continued strong support of our parent body for the Cranford school community. Funds raised by the Spring Ball are being donated towards the further development of the Willow Theatre and we are all excited about the opportunities our new lighting and sound systems will offer for future performing arts productions. As rehearsals continue for the forthcoming KS3 Bugsy Malone show, I know Mrs Heard and the cast are all looking forward to showcasing the excellent facilities that the PTA’s generous donation is providing.

With best wishes for the week ahead,

Dr James Raymond
